Am I good enough to become professional?
I'm a 14 year old cellist, and I REALLY want to become a Professional cellist. No a famous one or even slightly wealthy one, I just want to get by and live a modest life. I know that sounds weird but I'm used to it. I never get new stuff, I don't have an i-pod, cell phone, cable, brand name clothes, and I'm alive. And really happy too :) I'm in book 8 of Suzuki, I was first chair all last year in CSYO (Columbus Symphony Youth orchestras), I've gotten 2 superiors on my solos in OMEA (Ohio Music Educators Association), I do CMC (Chamber Music Connection). I might be competing in CMC next year in St. Paul's and Chicago, which will be amazing. I might be teaching this summer, too. As you can tell, it's all I do, and I love it so much. I really only have a handful of friends at school, the rest are from cello. I guess I could go into a writing or journalism career, but I just don;t know. I can only imagine myself doing music. I want to play in a quartet that does free concerts in inner city schools. Again, as long as I'm able to live, money is no issue. - Araminta Naomi Aoki :)
